If we were to quote the famed Stefon from Saturday Night Live, the upcoming Supernatural season 12, episode 15 has everything. We’re talking about hellhounds, Crowley’s secrets, and the woman best known for carrying Lucifer’s child. Basically, this episode is going to be nuts, and the only thing that you can do is be prepared for just about every second of it.
The good news is that “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell” is going to be trying its best to provide a little something for everyone. If you watch the show primarily for the purpose of getting Sam – Dean adventure stories, you’re going to have that. Meanwhile, the same goes for if you watch the show for the main purpose of learning a thing or two more about Castiel and Crowley. Every one of the regulars (even if it’s a fairly short list) will have a little bit of time in the sun.
Synopsis – “An attack by an invisible hellhound at a campsite leads Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) to investigate the mysterious circumstances. Meanwhile, two of Crowley’s (Mark A. Sheppard) own personal demons uncover what he has been hiding. Castiel (Misha Collins) gets a lead on Kelly Kline.”
The Kelly Kline story is the one that’s been probably planted the most this season, and it’s interesting for us mostly since it’s tied back to this whole notion of if Castiel can really ever separate himself from the world of Lucifer and his past. He feels a certain responsibility as a representative in this world, though sometimes he is haunted by the burden of that. For a character who does have such a great moments of lightness, they are often offset by some moments of turmoil and introspection.
As for the Sam / Dean stuff, for not it just seems fun. We’ll see if the story becomes more serious for them by the end of the episode.
