You’ve waited a long time for the show to return, and now that the midseason premiere is over, why not take a look at Empire season 3 episode 12? The title for next week’s new episode is “Strange Bedfellows,” and based on that alone, you have to think that there’s some exciting stuff ahead! For any show, so much of the joy can come from seeing what sort of creativity the writers are able to pull off in terms of interesting character combinations. If Empire is able to jam together people with different personalities into a single scene, characters may learn a little bit more about themselves than they imagined that they would ahead of time.
Let’s go ahead not and share some of the first details from Fox, since they give you a good sense as to what the general landscape of the story will be.
Synopsis – “Angelo makes an unsettling discovery and is concerned that Cookie’s past isn’t in the past and will hurt his chances of becoming the Mayor. Anika is faced with a life-changing decision after Tariq reveals what he is really after. Meanwhile, Hakeem’s 21st birthday party takes an unexpected turn.”
Probably the biggest surprise is the reminder here that Hakeem is just of legal drinking age. This is a guy who’s been through more than most 50-year olds, and he’s just now getting to the point where he can walk into a convenience store and buy a beer! It’s no surprise that his birthday would take an “unexpected turn,” mostly because this is Hakeem throwing a party. It’s one of those situations where you don’t have to say a whole lot else.
Beyond that, we’ve constantly felt as though the Cookie / Angelo relationship was on a knife’s edge, just because the two of them are certainly strange bedfellows in their own way. They come from such different backgrounds and are in very different worlds; they’ve been able to make it work so far, but everything seems to be hitting the fan at the same time.
Promo – Take a look at all of your guest stars below! Demi Moore and Eva Longoria are just two of the key players who will be stopping by this time.
