A few weeks ago, “Criminal Minds” showrunner Erica Messer indicated that the show was going to be doing something a little bit different with many of their remaining stories this season — they were going to thread some of them together, and present you with something that feels a little more serialized than you are accustomed to. Obviously, the whole case-of-the-week format is still going to be there, and there are no plans for the show to abandon that. We don’t know why you would expect for them to! This is what plays super-well in syndication, so of course they’re going to keep rolling with this.
Below, we have some of the first details for next week’s “Collision Course,” and let’s just say that we really wish things were going to be going better for Reid than they are. After all, the early details coming out now mostly suggest that he’ll be falling more and more into a pit of despair.
Synopsis – “The BAU investigates the cause of several fatal car crashes involving drivers and pedestrians. Also, Reid gets bad news.”
Is this a situation that Matthew Gray Gubler’s character will be able to rectify? You want to hope so, but we know in particular with him that there are some things in his life that he simply cannot change. One of the biggest ones is everything that is going on at present with his mother Diana. Alzheimer’s is not going to get better one day, and he mostly just has to figure out the right way to help her that he can.
We suppose that given tonight’s episode title in “Spencer,” the biggest thing that we should be happy for is that Reid is still alive and around in the first place. That’s not exactly something that is guaranteed with this show, especially in this era where we’ve lost both Thomas Gibson and also Shemar Moore. (At least their characters are still alive somewhere out there.)
