When Chicago Fire season 5 episode 18 airs next week on NBC, you’re going to be seeing the return of a familiar face! Treat Williams is going to return as Kelly Severide’s father Benny — as for whether or not this is a welcome return, that’s something we’ve got to wait in order to figure out.
For the time being, what we can tell you is that this story is entitled “Take a Knee,” and we do have a little more in the way of scoop as to what is coming up throughout it.
Synopsis – “Casey (Jesse Spencer) discovers a new crack house on the block that is harboring a female junkie and goes to extreme measures to remedy the situation. Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Brett (Kara Killmer) get assigned a new trainee (guest star Will Kiley) for the shift and the newbie gets the two in trouble when he surprises them during a harrowing call. Meanwhile, Severide (Taylor Kinney) gets an unexpected visit from his father, Benny (Treat Williams), and Herrmann (David Eigenberg) deals with family issues when his son Lee Henry (guest star David VonKampen) gets into trouble at school.”
Obviously, Benny turning back up is just scratching the surface of this episode, given that Dawson and Brett could have their hands full when their trainee goes a little rogue. Meanwhile, it’s rather nice to see a big story for Herrmann related to his family, given that there are some times here and there where you could understandably wonder whether or not they still exist. With everything else going on with with the show, it’s easy to understand having these questions.
Promo – This video doesn’t actually take a hard look at Benny or the Severide story; instead, it puts more of the focus on the mystery behind a door that puts Casey and the remainder of the firehouse team in an interesting spot. What could be so important on the other side of said door that they would break it down in order to see it? It’s definitely a compelling tease to the episode.
